Socially Mobile completes 2025 fundraiser

New donors include 72Point, Smoking Gun, The Independent Impact 50 and West of Centre

Socially Mobile, the programme aimed at changing the public relations industry's leadership demographic, has successfully met its fundraising target for 2025 following a donation of two places by The Independent Impact 50.

The Community Interest Company challenged the industry via a campaign promoted by PR Week to sponsor 25 places at a cost of £750 each to support the programme over the next 12 months. It relies on sponsorship alongside employers and individuals buying paid places on the programme to remain sustainable.

The full list of the 25 for 2025 supporters includes: 72Point, All Things IC Limited, Be Broadcast, Big Fish Training, Blurred, Chartered Institute of Public Relations Local Public Services Group, Cirkle, CommsRebel, Cowshed, DeHavilland, Jack & Grace, Meglio, Morrison Media, Petal & Co, Richard Houghton, Smoking Gun, SourceCode Communications, The Independent Impact 50, Vested, West of Centre and Working Word, as well as an anonymous commitment.

We’re grateful for the industry responding to the challenge thrown down via PRWeek of supporting Socially Mobile. In addition to the financial commitment, sponsors play an important community role in supporting student masterclasses and signposting graduates to management opportunities.
— Sarah Waddington CBE, co-founder, Socially Mobile
We are delighted to have Socially Mobile as the Independent Impact 50’s charity partner and to help complete their 2025 funding round. Its work aligns with our mission to celebrate unsung communication talent and diverse public relations leadership. We look forward to supporting their efforts to develop independent talent from diverse backgrounds.
— Rod Cartwright, Co-Founder, The Independent Impact 50
It’s harder than ever to get a start in public relations. People with privilege shortcircuit the recruitment process by who they know, not what they know. Socially Mobile is an important step towards re-addressing that balance by giving people the industry needs more of a louder voice.
— Dan Tyte, Managing Director, Working Word
Morrison Media is proud to be a Socially Mobile supporter. The fully-funded training it offers to under-represented and under-served groups in the UK is vital for the long-term future of the public relations industry. We are delighted to be playing our part in creating this new pipeline of talent.
— John Morrison, Managing Director, Morrison Media
