CIPR, PRCA and Guild add weight to Socially Mobile offer
The CIPR, PRCA and Guild have joined forces in support of new not-for-profit PR school Socially Mobile.
Designed to help PR practitioners from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-served groups to increase their earning potential, those securing a fully funded place on the ten-week executive education programme will now also receive twelve months membership from both industry bodies.
The application process for the first cohort of Socially Mobile opened last week and closes on Friday, 3 December. A live onboarding session for students takes place on Friday 17 December, with the programme starting in earnest on 10 January and running through to 25 March.
Fully funded places are available to practitioners from lower socio-economic backgrounds, as well as under-represented and under-served groups including Black, Asian and ethnic minority practitioners, women returnees, and those with disabilities. Paid places are available at a cost of £695.
"I am delighted we're able to support Socially Mobile's 10-week executive education course. It's essential that public relations is an open and inclusive profession, committed to providing opportunities for all. If you want to take the next step in your career, I'd encourage you to apply today,” said Alastair McCapra, CEO, CIPR.
“Sarah and Stephen’s Socially Mobile PR school is going to make a significant impact on people’s lives and career prospects. We know that the success and sustainability of our industry is dependent on our workforce reflecting the society it seeks to engage. So, this was a no-brainer for the PRCA to get behind and support,” said Francis Ingham, director general, PRCA.
“Membership of a professional association is a powerful gateway into a supportive, professional community. I’d urge all our members to encourage those who could benefit from an opportunity like this to find out more and apply,” added Ingham.
Also providing support to Socially Mobile is Guild, a purpose-built secure platform for professional networks which is hosting an alumni community for participants.
"It’s vital that the comms & PR industry retains and nurtures talent - and Socially Mobile is a programme that has recognised that some of this talent has been shockingly overlooked for many years,” said Michelle Goodall, chief marketing officer, Guild.
“We’re delighted to support the initiative by providing a safe space for the alumni community. I hope that this makes the sector more inclusive by helping more individuals achieve their potential. It’s great that students will be supported by such an impressive and generous network of PR professionals,” added Goodall.
